Striving with the Biz

How to Be a Blessing in a Business

First off, forgive me for being a day late on this one.  Kaylee was very cuddly yesterday and didn’t want to nap alone.  It didn’t give me my time to reflect on a blog post.  Now I finally have the chance to sit down and write my thoughts.  Better late than never!!

Many people work to get the paycheck, other people work for the job.  We know that you need to have some sort of money to make a living in today’s day and age, but why people work is different for everyone.  Why some people spend so much time in school for years and years on end is beyond me…but it makes sense when they can finally work as the Doctor that they’ve been training to be for so many years.  They work to bring a blessing of healing to those who desperately need it!  That’s worth going to work every day!

Other people work cause they have to.  They get a job because they need one, and it probably isn’t the one they are passionate about.  The passion for being a blessing is shrouded with the demand to get the work done in 8 hours and get out of there!  People go home tired and exhausted.  And sadly, the paycheck they get isn’t worth the work they do, but they stay cause they have to.

The people who are blessed to work in the place that they love is truly a gift itself!  Not everyone gets their dream job, and many lose the desire to pursue it anymore.  Where do you sit in this?  Are you finding that your job can bring blessing to others around you?  Do you pursue that in your job?  Maybe it’s not your dream job, but what can you do in your work today that would bring a blessing to those around you?

What would you consider to be your dream job?  Where does your heart set with today’s day and age?  Is there a group of people that you wish you could help more?  Is there a skill that God’s given you that you feel is being wasted and just collecting dust?  What are you going to do about it, or are you content with where you are?

My husband was walking up the stairs with my brother-in-law Joseph last night, and he was saying the following quote:

“Wherever you are, be all there! Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God.”

Jim Elliot

Wherever your heart sets with your current work, realize that wherever you are that you need to be ALL THERE!  Don’t give it half your effort.  Whatever it is, give it your all!  To me, that means a few things:

  • Stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about others.
  • Focus on what you can give, not what you can get.
  • Life is too short to be weighed down by what you wish you had instead of thinking about what’s already given to you.
  • What you make isn’t really yours anyway…it’s all God’s primarily.

I’m not perfect at this…but thankfully for myself, my full-time job is being home with Kaylee.  Along with that, I give blessings in a bottle.  That’s how I view my part-time job.  It’s a blessing to be able to do the work at home around my full-time job.  It’s a blessing to know that I can reach out to people in love and share something that truly can be life changing.  I crave it, and it’s wonderful!

So let me have the opportunity to bless you all today.  Below is a link to a google form that I created.  I would like to know where you all stand with essential oils/Young Living.  If you’ve never tried them and would like to, let me bless you with a chance to have your life changed by these God-given oils!  It’s a quick survey, and I promise not to spam you (unless you’ve shown interest and want to stay up to date with what I’m doing…even then I’ll be kind!)

It is a blessing to be able to have this tool to show God’s love to people.  It branches me out of my comfort zone to reach out to people whom I think could really be blessed with Young Living.  If I’ve got a great thing to share, why stay silent?  Let me share God’s love with you.  I’d love the opportunity to be here for you!
